Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (SAPST)

Due to a change in our contract scope of work, CSAP's CAPTs will no longer be conducting participant trainings of the SAPST. For information on SAPST participant trainings available in your area, please contact your National Prevention Network representative. (For contact information, go to http://captus.samhsa.gov/western/western.cfm and click on your state/jurisdiction.)

For a summary of the SAPST visit: Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (Please note: A copy of the curriculum is not available online at this time. The curriculum is currently being reviewed for clearance by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.)

SAPST Training of Trainers

The training of trainers is designed to provide participants with the information, skills, and knowledge to conduct a SAPST training. No training of trainers are currently scheduled in the Western Region.

Requirements for Training of Trainers:

Participants must: attend a participant training prior to the training; review SAPST facilitator manual prior to training; be prepared to facilitate SAPST curriculum during the training; and submit an application to CSAP's Western CAPT. Acceptance into the training will be determined by the CSAP's Western CAPT upon review of the applications. First priority will be given to those individuals in the Western CAPT region. (Please note: This is NOT a training on facilitation or training skills. It is a training on how to conduct the SAPST. It is assumed that Training of Trainers participants already have training and facilitation skills.)

If you have questions about the SAPST trainings, please contact a staff Training Coordinator, at 888.734.7476 or 775.683.8558 or jtieman@casat.org.
